Just as a diamond can only be polished by another diamond, it is only through intense human interaction engaging the entire personality that people can forge themselves up to ever greater heights.

Buddhism is Practical

To think of Buddhism as a placid teaching expounded in a bucolic setting under the shade of a tree is a totally false image. Buddhism is intensely practical, not escapist. It lives in human society and has been handed down among the people-this is the true flow of Buddhism.

Life for everyone is a struggle against the sufferings of birth, old age, sickness and death.  Happiness is not the absence of problems or worries; it is to be undefeated no matter what problems or worries we may face. And this happiness is not solely focused on oneself. Truly happy are those who can help others become happy.
